As a child care provider not only is it my duty to make sure my little ones are safe and properly taken care of, but it is also my pleasure to prepare them for entrance into Kindergarten and teach them valuable life lessons.  Above all, I teach them the importance of love and kindness.  Little ones learn to treat their friends with respect, to listen, to understand the feelings of others as well as their own feelings.  I also show them that not only is nature life, but it too deserves to be respected.  No living thing, no matter how small, is ever harmed in any way.  If a child is frightened or bothered by a bug, an animal, or any living thing, they are taught to simply "walk away".  Manners and polite speaking are taught through family style served meals.  We cook for one another and serve our friends with plenty of please and thank yous. 

I provide weekly themes.  With each theme comes special themed based art, music and stories.  I also provide areas for language arts, math and science.  We are very hands on.  The little ones are allowed and encouraged to participate in preparing meals and snacks, tend the gardens and prepare art supplies.  During morning circle time we practice the weekly letter, number, shape and color.  We play games to better learn these things, we read stories and sing songs.  When it is raining outside we play the music loud and dance, play our instruments and practice the fine art of "simon says".  Some of the teaching tools I use are hand made games and flash cards, books, worksheets and coloring pages, felt board, story c.ds and songs.
